On July 14, 2020, Thailand's TISI officially proclaimed the new mandatory standard TIS 166-2549 for household and similar household plugs and sockets. Starting from November 11, 2020, household plug and socket products should be certified before exporting to the Thai market.

Scope of products applicable to this standard:
1. Plugs, fixed sockets or portable sockets for household and similar purposes, with a rated voltage not exceeding 250V and a rated current not exceeding 16A, are used indoors or outdoors.
2. Unless otherwise specified in the relevant equipment standard, this standard also applies to plugs and portable sockets for power cord extension cords and plugs and sockets as equipment components.
