The fire hazard is a major hazard source of rail transit rolling stock. Therefore, fire prevention technology plays an important role in the safe operation of rail transit rolling stock. For this purpose, a number of fire protection standards for rail transit rolling stock have been issued by various standardization organizations in terms of fire prevention level, fire performance of materials and components, fire partition, rolling stock design, electrical equipment, fire control, fire safety of flammable liquid and flammable gas devices.
The standard EN45545-2, which is widely used at present, has stipulated corresponding flame retardant requirements for the materials and components of rail vehicles. For different materials and different parts used on the vehicle, different test methods are used, including flame spread, heat release rate, smoke density, oxygen index, flammability, etc. The components and materials failed the fire prevention and flame retardant test will not be adopted by the main engine factory.
